Estonian Post is looking for options in order to open franchise offices

The management board of Estonian Post is visiting counties in order to find locations where to open franchise postal offices in order to guarantee better accessibility of postal services, writes Postimees Online.

According to the head of the postal services division of Estonian Post Jaan Vainult the leaders of local municipalities were informed of different options for re-organising postal services. “An example are the rural municipalities of Võru, Laekvere and Tamsalu where the interest for opening franchise offices and finding co-operation partners has come from municipalities themselves,” he said. Vainult noted that the local municipalities know best the needs of particular regions.

In February Estonian Post came out with the plan to offer alternative options in rural areas to the currently used postal points. In near future the access to the postal enterprise’s distribution and collection network will be secured by motorised delivery or by franchise offices. Estonian Post wishes to find co-operation partners who would start providing postal services, by concluding franchise contracts with stores, petrol stations or with village libraries.
